2023 PRECISION GUNSMITHING SERVICES AND PRICES
There are a few individual services and prices listed here for customizing and accurizing work, but due to the unlimited variables and options in building a custom rifle, it is impossible to price complete rifle projects here. Please call me and I will go over all the variables and options with you on your project, and then I will be able to figure a close estimate for you.
NOTE: I have decided to stop taking in most rifle builds and gunsmithing work at this time so I can concentrate on upgrading and adding to the training material for the Extreme Accuracy Institute part of my business.
I am teaching more and more gunsmithing and precision rifle building classes all the time, plus I am also working toward putting some of my training material online. This will take an enormous amount of time, but I have needed to do this for a long time now, and it can't wait any longer.
I already have a very long backlog in my gunsmith work and if I continue taking in gunsmithing work, my backlog time will become far longer than I am willing to make people wait for, so I hope everyone understands this.
So stay tuned ....!!

"ACCURIZING PACKAGE" for Factory Rifles
The "Accurizing Package" is the most popular way I accurize a factory rifle. It includes only the very best of gunsmithing techniques, and brings out almost all the accuracy the rifle using the factory barrel will be capable of!
This includes a complete accuracy evaluation of the entire rifle including bore scoping and “slugging” the barrel, gauging headspace, pillar bedding the stock, "accuracy" barrel crown, lapping the bolt lugs, lapping/bedding the scope rings, remounting the scope correctly, and "blueprinting" the trigger.
700.00 Basic accurizing package
650.00 (Above package - without lapping/bedding the scope rings)
"Accurizing Package" options: -20.00 *Guns with stocks having integral bedding blocks (no pillars needed) 295.00 *Extra to sleeve bolt/rebore receiver, if needed, to reduce excessive bolt clearance and gain accuracy 195.00 *Extra to epoxy "sleeve" receiver (less expensive way to reduce bolt clearance) 195.00 *Extra to lap bore of barrel to smooth and uniform bore for better accuracy/less fouling
995.00 "Complete Accurizing Package" - all of the basic package, plus lap bore and epoxy sleeve bolt

Action Work
Action work on factory actions can vary considerably in price, depending on what all gets done. Hunting rifles, for example, will generally not need as much action truing / blueprinting work as a rifle being built for serious benchrest or competition use.
Prices will normally run from a minimum of $95 to true/lap the bolt lugs up to an average of $400-450 for normal action truing: single-point recutting / truing receiver threads, receiver face, receiver lug seats, bolt lugs, bolt face, bolt nose, lapping bolt lugs, etc. But the cost can go up from there to $900 or more if we need to do all of the "normal" truing, plus sleeving the bolt to reduce bolt clearance/slop, reboring receiver bolt raceway if needed, bushing the bolt face to reduce firing pin hole size, reworking or replacing the firing pin and spring to correct weak ignition, etc, etc.
Normally by the time you purchase a factory action and have to do all this work to it, you may be better off to go with a high quality custom action if the match rules allow - it may not cost that much more, and resale of guns with custom actions is better.
Custom actions vary in price and options, but generally run anywhere from $900 to $2000+ depending on what you want.
Call me and we can discuss your needs in detail to figure out the best way to go.

Barrel Work
All my barrel machining (threading, chambering, crowning) and die making is held to extremely accurate tolerances, with the bore (not the outside of the barrel/die) running perfectly true. The end of the bore being worked on is dial-indicated to run both straight and true within .0001''-.0002", as compared to frequently seen off-center and crooked tolerances of .002''-.008'' or worse.
I have specially modified my lathes to allow this extremely accurate way of doing barrel work. I also take the time to closely evaluate, measure and "slug" all new custom barrel blanks to ensure they are as true inside as they are supposed to be (they aren’t always as good as they should be, in which case I return them to the manufacturer for correction or replacement before fitting them to your gun).
495.00 Install custom barrel: includes evaluating barrel blank, threading, chambering, "accuracy" crown, standard finish (gloss or satin). You can specify almost any standard or wildcat chamber, throating to match a specific bullet or throat length, twist rate, barrel length, and contour. We can help you determine all of these details.
Custom barrel options:
75.00 *Extra for matte or bead blast finish

75.00 *Extra for 5R/5-groove barrels (covers extra time needed to chamber these to keep chatter minimized) 125.00 *Extra for barrels requiring extractor cuts 85.00 *Extra reamer rental charge for uncommon chamberings (minimum)
95.00 *Extra for lapping/truing bolt lugs, when needed 75-100 *Extra for re-inletting stock forend to match new barrel, when needed

Trigger Work
I normally recommend installing a custom trigger whenever possible. But when this is not possible, I can rework and blueprint/tune most factory triggers
All my trigger work is set for optimum engagement angles, and thoroughly tested for proper function, safety, impact resistance, and exacting repeatability for best accuracy
140-160+ (most guns) Blueprint/tune factory trigger: highly polish all working surfaces/springs/pins, and set engagement, overtravel, and pull weight for top safety and accuracy
225.00+ Ruger #1, complicated triggers, etc
Stock Work
Benchrest quality "Pillar Bedding"
Done correctly, pillar bedding the action into the stock makes for a perfect stress-free fit of the action into the stock, which gives the very best accuracy possible! First, solid metal pillars are machined and fitted through the stock for a more rigid assembly. Then, the barrel is free floated and the action is carefully bedded into the stock with epoxy. Finally, after the epoxy has cured, the fit is checked with a dial-indicator to ensure the fit is perfect and all stresses are eliminated for the best accuracy possible!
Then, if needed, I often bed the action and stock again to give an even better, more accurate pillar bedding fit. After the first bed has cured (epoxy shrinks slightly while curing) for 2-3 days, it is completely bedded again with a thin second bedding skim coat right on top of the first bedding to eliminate this shrinkage. This makes the stock fit the receiver so perfectly that in effect, it supports and stiffens the receiver even more, allowing less barrel whip and vibration, which increases accuracy even more!
I also do "glue-in" bedding, which is commonly done on benchrest rifles. In this case, the stock is first bedded conventionally, then the stock and action are permantly glued together with a second coat of epoxy
395.00 Benchrest quality pillar bedding
